ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the effects of the link between overweight/obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on leptin and visfatin levels.@*Methods@#Males without T2DM and male patients with T2DM hospitalized in Lishui Municipal Central Hospital from January to June, 2017 were enrolled. Subjects' age and medical history of diseases were collected. The height and body weight were measured, and the body mass index (BMI) was estimated. The leptin and visfatin levels were determined, and compared between patients with and without T2DM, and between patients with and without overweight/obesity. The effect of the link between overweight/obesity and T2DM on leptin and visfatin levels was examined using a generalized linear regression model.@*Results@#There were 66 patients with T2DM, with a mean age of (49.70±9.45) years and a mean diabetes duration of (4.99±4.46) years, and there were 64 patients without T2DM, with a mean age of (43.89±0.20) years. The leptin [ (3.17±0.36) vs. (3.03±0.30) ng/mL; t=2.387, P=0.018] and visfatin levels [ (29.14±3.16) vs. (21.81±3.32) ng/mL; t=12.900, P<0.001] were significantly greater in T2DM patients than in patients without T2DM. The leptin level was significantly greater in patients with overweight/obesity than in those without overweight/obesity [ (3.27±0.32) vs. (2.92±0.26) ng/mL; t=6.634, P<0.001], and the visfatin level was significantly lower in patients with overweight/obesity than in those without overweight/obesity [(24.38±5.14) vs. (26.71±4.36) ng/mL; t=2.780, P=0.006]. Generalized linear regression analysis showed interacting effects of overweight/obesity and T2DM on leptin (β=0.286, P=0.003) and visfatin levels (β=2.709, P=0.008).@*Conclusion@#The interaction between overweight/obesity and T2DM affects leptin and visfatin levels.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the effect of stratified nursing intervention based on aspiration risk assessment strategy in ICU mechanical ventilation patients. Methods Totally 156 patients with ICU mechanical ventilation admitted between January 2016 and December 2017 were selected as study subjects, and 78 patients were divided into treatment group and control group by random number table method. The control group was given routine nursing interventions for ICU patients undergoing mechanical ventilation, and the treatment group was combined with stratified nursing interventions based on aspiration risk assessment strategy. Compare the two groups of nurses'knowledge, attitude and practice of aspiration prevention, the complications of patient aspiration, patient satisfaction and other indicators. Results The scores of nurses′knowledge, attitude and practice of prevention of aspiration in the treatment group were (46.32 ± 3.24), (51.41 ± 3.56), and (49.36 ± 4.85), respectively, which were significantly higher than those of the control group (41.25 ± 5.32), (47.12 ± 5.45), (44.42 ± 5.46), The difference was statistically significant (t=4.815, 3.899, 4.002, P<0.05);The rate of aspiration, reflux, asphyxia, aspiration pneumonia in the treatment group was 7.69% (6/78), 19.23% (15/78), 1.28% (1/78), 2.56% (2/78), which were significantly lower than 29.49% (23/78), 39.74% (31/78),12.82% (10/78),20.51% (16/78) in the control group. The difference were statistically significant (χ2=7.892-12.309, P<0.05 or 0.01);Patient satisfaction 97.87% (74/78) was significantly higher than the control group 83.33% (65/78), The difference was statistically significant (χ2=5.347, P<0.05). Conclusion The stratified nursing intervention based on the aspiration risk assessment strategy can help develop nurses′ability in knowledge, attitude and practice of aspiration prevention, reduce the occurrence of complications such as aspiration, and improve patient satisfaction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the role of nuclear factor(erythroid?derived 2)?like 2(Nrf2)in load?driven bone metabolism in Nrf2 knock?out(KO)mice. Methods The hybridized mice in the same brood were selected through PCR detection and were divided into two groups,i.e.,the Nrf2 knockout(KO)group and the wild?type(WT)group. Ulna of mice was loaded with 4 000 peak microstrains at 2 Hz for 3 consecutive days (120 cycles/day)as scheduled, the relative mineralizing surface(rMS/BS)and the relative bone formation rate(rBFR/BS)of ulna were measured for the two groups. Results Load?induced bone formation was suppressed in KO mice. Compared to the WT control, the relative bone formation rate was roughly 84%lower in KO mice(P<0.01). Conclusion The loss?of?function mutation of Nrf2 in bone diminishes load?driven bone formation.

ABSTRACT

AIM To study the influence of ginkgo biloba exocarp polysaccharides(GBEP) on p53 gene expression and telomerase activity of human gastriccancer SGC 7901 cells in vitro . METHODS The p53 gene expression level of human gastriccancer SGC 7901 cells were measured by immunohistochemistry ABC. The telomerase activity of human gastriccancer SGC 7901 cells were measured by TRAP ELISA. RESULTS GBEP(80~160 mg?L -1 ,48 h) inhibited the expression of mutated type p53 genes and telomerase activity of human gastriccancer SGC 7901 cells. CONCLUSION The action mechanism of GBEP that inhibited the proliferation of SGC 7901 cells may relate to its down regulation effect on the expression of p53 genes and telomerase activity of human gastriccancer SGC 7901 cells.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical efficacy of Ginkgo biloba exocarp polysaccharides (GBEP) capsule preparation in treating upper digestive tract malignant tumors of middle and late stage. METHODS: Eighty-six patients of the upper digestive tract malignant tumors were treated with GBEP capsule preparation taken orally. The clinical symptoms and the qualities of life of the patients with single GBEP and combined with operation, radiotherapy or intervention chemotherapy were observed. The tumor size was measured by electronic gastroscope before and after treatment with single GBEP. Objective response rate (RR) of the tumor was calculated. The survival period of patient was observed. The changes of blood routine examination in the patients treated with radiotherapy were observed. RESULTS: GBEP preparation could markedly improve the patients'clinical symptoms. Karnofsky scoring of the patients markedly increased after treatment. There were 2 CR (complete response, 6.3%), 22 PR (partial response, 68.8%)and 5 SD (stable disease, 15.6%) of 32 cases with single GBEP preparation. The survival periods of the 32 cases were markedly prolonged. The preparation could relieve the inhibited hematopietic function and the weight loss due to radiotherapy. CONCLUSION: GBEP capsule preparation has some definite therapeutic effects on upper digestive tract malignant tumors of middle and late stage.

ABSTRACT

The suppressive effects of cyclosporin A ( CsA ) made in China on immune function were studied in mice. CsA ( 25 and 50 mg/kg ig for 4 d ) caused a significant decrease of spleen plaque forming cell ( PFC ) in mice. At the dose of 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg ig for 4 d, CsA inhibited the production of hemolysin in a dose-dependent manner in mice immunized with SRBC. CsA ( 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg ig for 10d ) also markedly inhibited the delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity ( DCH ) induced by DNCB in mice. CsA 50 mg/kg ig for 14d prolongated survival time of cardiac grafts. The treatment with CsA could not reduce the clearance rate of iv charcoal particles as well as bone marrow cells in mice. There was no significant difference of immu-nosuppressive effect on PFC response between China-made CsA and Sandoz-made CsA

ABSTRACT

In order to study the pathogenesis of simple obesity in relation to genetic and environmental factors,I,202 primary re-latives of 200 cases of simple obesity and 939 primary relatives of 200 normal controls were investigated. The results were as follows: The incidence of obesity is higher in the parents and siblings of obese subjects than that in the normals. The hereditary degree is 83.1% in these patients with simple obesity. Asignificant difference of the incidence of obesity was found between the normal controls (11.7%) and the primary relatives of obese cases (34.4%). The latter is close to the square root of the former and is much less than that of the monofactorial inheritance. Therefore, genetic factors and multifactorial inheritance appear to play a role in the pathogenesis of obesity.
